The tobacconists Union warning of the consequences of increasing the minimum threshold of smuggled snuff to be considered CONTRABAND DAYS crime SNUFF President of the Union of Associations of tobacconists of Spain, Mario Aguilar Espejo, expresses its deep concern over the legislative initiative aimed at increasing the minimum threshold of smuggling, 6,000 € to 20,000 €, to be considered a crime administrative offense rather than as a practice would in fact legalize snuff smuggling. Aguilar Espejo
strongly opposes this initiative, including the amendment of the Organic Law 12/1995 of December 12 in crackdown on smuggling, because it would only cause an increase uncontrolled smuggling snuff at a time in which Andalusian provinces and vacancy rate to 20%.
President of the Union of tobacconists of Spain considers this decision completely inappropriate and a serious error. In recent months, tobacconists have been drastically reduced income due to various reasons, including the disproportionate tax increase last December, the entry into force in January, the ban on smoking in all enclosed public spaces, the strong increased smuggling of snuff and the severe economic crisis.
